Seminar on HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
to be offered October 26 Innovate E-Commerce, business-to-business e-commerce consultants headquartered in Oakland, is hosting the seminar "HIPAA: 12 Ways the Business Benefits Upstage the Costs" at the Rivers Club, One Oxford Center, Grant Street, Pittsburgh, on Friday, October 26, from 7AM-9AM. Great Northern Consulting Services, a total solutions provider for infrastructure, storage, and business services who recently opened an office in Pittsburgh, is co-hosting the event. Reservations are available through Amber Westwood at 881-771-9606 or on-line at www.innovateec.com. HIPAA's goals are two-fold: 1)to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare system by standardizing the interchange of electronic data for specified transactions and 2) to protect the security and confidentiality of electronic health information. Any healthcare organization that maintains or transmits electronic health information must comply to HIPAA's requirements, including health plans, insurers, healthcare clearinghouses, and healthcare providers, who will be required by HIPAA to adapt new standards related to electronic business, privacy and security. The seminar will be hosted by Karen Puchalsky, president of Innovate E-Commerce and Robert Huemmrich, a sales representative for Great Northern Consulting Services. Puchalsky is an e-commerce pioneer, MBA, national speaker and co-founder of Innovate E-Commerce. Huemmrich is a 20-year veteran of information technology in the healthcare sector; he is spearheading the launch of Great Northern's new Pittsburgh office. "We will cover what HIPAA is mandating to whom by when, and how to get started," explained Karen Puchalsky. "Then we will shift focus to 12 ways an organization can leverage the changes HIPAA is mandating into strategic business advantages. For instance, HIPAA's changes can result in more effective use of personnel, fewer errors and lower costs."
